How much does an assessment cost?
£650.
Do you assess for Dyslexia?
Yes - we can assess both children and adults for dyslexia. Dyslexia is essentially a set of processing difficulties that affect the acquisition of literacy skills, e.g. reading and/or spelling.
Do you assess for Dyscalculia?
Yes - we can assess both children and adults for dyscalculia. Dyscalculia is when an individual has a specific and persistent difficulty in mathematics, where numerical magnitude processing difficulties are persistent and significant.
If, upon assessment, it appears that the individual has a specific and persistent difficulty in mathematics but does not have numerical magnitude processing difficulties that are enduring and extreme and does not meet the criteria for dyscalculia, they can still be identified as having an SpLD in mathematics (which is still classed as a disability).
Do you assess for Dyspraxia/DCD?
Yes - we can carry out an assessment for Dyspraxia/DCD for clients aged 16+. This is not a medical diagnosis and is primarily for the purposes of enabling a client to qualify for support at college, university and/or within the workplace.
Do you assess for ADHD (SpLD)?
Yes - we can carry out an assessment to identify ADHD as a specific learning difficulty (SpLD) for adults aged 18+. This is not a medical diagnosis and is primarily for the purposes of enabling a client to qualify for support at college, university and/or within the workplace. It does not enable an adult to access prescription medication.
Can I use the report that you give me to seek support in the Workplace?
Yes - if you receive a formal diagnosis, as in light of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 an employer/workplace should make "reasonable adjustments" in light of an employee’s difficulties. Within the diagnostic assessment report itself, there is a ‘Recommendations’ section that you can provide to your employer for perusal. You will also be entitled to seek help from the Access to Work (NI) scheme or the Workable (NI) scheme.
Can I use the report that you give me, to apply for the Disabled Students' Allowance?
Yes – if you receive a formal diagnosis. Simply complete an application form for the Disabled Students’ Allowance and send your diagnostic assessment report off with it. The Disabled Students' Allowance can provide up to £27,500 per year of support.
How long after an assessment will I receive my report?
You will receive your diagnostic assessment report within seven days.
All assessments are conducted by a Specialist SpLD Assessor holding an Assessment Practising Certificate and full registration with both the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). This means that our diagnostic assessment reports are widely accepted by schools, SEAG, education boards, colleges, training providers, universities, employers, DSA/SFNI, DfC, DVA/DVLA, Access to Work (NI), and Workable (NI).
Can you tell me more about your Psychometric Profiling service?
The Ulster Assessments® Psychometric Profiling (UAPP) service helps employers identify candidates who not only have the right ability for the role, but also the traits needed to perform, collaborate, and grow within an organisation.
